August's Charity of the Month is Manchester Volunteer Squad!
The Financial Assistance Committee of Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad helps the squad in raising monies to purchase equipment and supplies and for buildings upkeep. We serve meals to the members when there are meetings, both locally and district wide. Ambulances and equipment can run approximately $500,000 for the unit, equipment (radio, computer, etc.), stretchers and supplies. Everything in the ambulance has an expiration date on them (stretchers are only guaranteed for seven years), and yes, even bandaids have dates on them, so supplies are having to be replaced. We assisted in paying off the mortgage on Station #2 located on Winterpock Road. This station was built as it was necessary to have rescue units available nearer the Amelia/Chesterfield County Lines due to the growth in population.
We all enjoy helping to raise the funds to keep our county residents safe and able to have medical care quickly, when necessary.
